This course helps people to cope better with stress, depression, pain and illness, which leads to a happier and more satisfying life. Being mindful involves intentionally paying attention to each moment of our experience with an openness and curiosity to how it actually is. It focuses on being present with what is happening around us and within us, rather than working out of autopilot.

It teaches us how to step aside from our habitual tendencies that automatically react to how we’d like life to be, patterns that often unintentionally make life harder rather easier., mindfulness teaches us to focus on the here and now, allowing you to shift out of the autopilot mode and constant “doing” that we often find ourselves in, to come into a more balanced mode of “being”, a relaxed present moment awareness.

Through mindful awareness space opens up revealing more choices as to how to move towards a greater sense of well-being, enabling us to face changes and challenges from a calmer and more conscious standpoint.

    This course is non-religious.

    MINDFULNESS SESSIONS FOR KIDS
    Reducing Stress, Anxiety and Depression

Pressures of the modern world are contributing to the rising number of young children suffering from stress, depression and anxiety. Toxic stress impairs attention, emotion and mood regulation, sleep, and learning readiness. Prolonged exposure to childhood toxic stress has lifelong impacts on mental and physical health. Mental health issues can begin to emerge in primary age children. Recent research revealed that emotional problems in 11 to 13-year-old girls were on the rise, with a 55 per cent increase between 2009 and 2014.

In the last few years Mindfulness has emerged as a way of treating children and adolescents with conditions ranging from ADHD to anxiety, autism spectrum disorders, depression and stress. The benefits are proving to be tremendous.

What is Mindfulness – It is a non-spiritual meditation practice that begins with paying attention to breathing in order to focus on the here and now—not what might have been or what you're worried about. The ultimate goal is to give you enough distance from disturbing thoughts and emotions to be able to observe them without immediately reacting to them.

Benefits - Statistics state that children who practice mindfulness get better exam results , improved concentration, it improves well-being, reduces worries, anxiety, distress reactivity and bad behaviour. It improves sleep, self-esteem brings about greater calmness relaxation, self-regulation and awareness. Increasing numbers of schools are incorporating it into the curriculum including Primary school children in Berkshire who have had meditation classes introduced into their timetables to help them manage their own behaviour, anxieties, and improve their concentration.
